Guitar Night, the anticipated annual event Hollis Brookline holds twice yearly, is right around the corner. On December 8, students will be working hard to bring the magic of Hollywood right into this school. Students are excited to sing songs from movies complying with the theme of Hollywood and performing them in front of the Hollis Brookline community.
Guitar night is a crowd-favorite event at Hollis Brookline. It allows students to showcase their musical talents to the public to captivate the audience. Angelina Costa, an avid watcher of Guitar Night said “I look forward to seeing all of my fellow classmates express themselves through music and hearing all of the fantastic songs they put together,” said Costa. From playing the guitar, drums and vocals, students diligently prepare for this event. Charles Rogers, the advisor for this year’s Guitar Night, has been providing guidance in order for guitar night to run smoothly. His collaboration with the students has put further importance on highlighting artistic talent within the community.
Students participating in Guitar Night have been going through rigorous preparations. More than forty auditions need to be narrowed down to a twenty-five-song setlist, making performing at Guitar Night gratifying. Meghan Warren, a member of the student band called Power’s Out will also be participating in this year’s Guitar Night. “This past week I just came back from a four-hour practice just to record five songs. Overall it’s going really well, we are definitely getting through a lot better than we have, compared to past guitar nights,” said Warren. As auditions are due by November 17, students are prepared to see whether their audition gets approved or not for the show.
As the event gets closer, many people are excited to come and watch the many performances that will be showcased. With all the time and effort being put into this event, singer Emma DiGennaro ‘25 said “I just love the entire aspect of performing as a singer…I can’t wait to see the outcome of Guitar Night,” said DiGennaro.
This event is not just for students at Hollis Brookline but for the public as well. People attend this event to support these talented musicians. So, keep your calendars free on December 8 to enjoy a night filled with enjoyable music.
