Emily Tebbetts, a junior at Hollis-Brookline High School, had the most stellar basketball season of her career so far. Tebbets came out this year varsity starter with not a lot of experience, but quickly proved how dangerous she could be against other teams.
With a whole new coaching staff for the Girls varsity Basketball program, it was a rebuilding season for the team. Tebbetts came out strong at the beginning of the season and along with being a prominent player on the HBHS Field Hockey and Softball teams, Tebbetts really proved her capability, and became a threat from the 3 point line. Tebbetts has been playing basketball for 6 years, but has really hit her stride in her junior season.
When asked what her favorite part about the sport is, Tebbetts said “I love shooting threes and bonding with teammates.” Tebbetts was lethal from the three point line, as the top scorer on the girls varsity basketball team.
The girls basketball team lost their entire starting lineup last year, and used this season to rebuild the program. New head varsity coach Heidi Moore spoke highly of Tebbettsand her importance in the new team. “She’s our go-to girl. She has a knack for making big shots when we need them and never gives up.” Her teammates also speak really highly of her contributions to the team. “She always comes out aggressive and brings energy to the court,” said teammate Ana O’Donnell ‘26.
Tebbetts is looking forward to continuing her athletic career “I play two other varsity sports, field hockey and softball. Moving forward I hope to play softball competitively in college and continue to excel in all three of my athletics during my senior year.”
The girls varsity basketball team wrapped up their season last week at their Preliminary game versus Laconia, finishing the season with a 7-11 record, a good finish for the rebuilding program.
Catch Emily Tebbetts this spring on the varsity softball team, their first scrimmage at home versus Bishop Guertin on April 1st.
