@ElliottGRILLS brings a passion for grilling to Hollis Brookline High School (HBHS) students. Elliott Cahill is an HBHS student who started an Instagram account for grilling food. His goal is to take the account as far as he can, and he wants to prove that anyone can grill and have fun too.
HBHS student Logan Theriault ‘25 is one of the many loyal followers of @Elliottgrills. He has had some great experiences with Cahill’s account. “I think he produces great content,” said Theriault.
Cahill started his account on May 6, 2024, when he went to Hannaford with his brother; they had yet to grill. Cahill decided to make buffalo wings that day, and it sparked his newfound passion for grilling. This led up to his decision to start a grilling account while pondering the idea during Period 2 Chemistry class. He is very ecstatic about grilling. “My carne asada nacho french fries, those were fire,” said Cahill.
Although Cahill typically grills alone, one of his fan-favorite posts was a collaboration with @justineats, another food-related account of a former student HBHS Justin Mcadams. Theriault mentioned this was his all-time favorite post because he’s a fan of Mcadams as well.
Mcadams mentioned that the overall experience was enjoyable. “It was a blast,” he said. He talked about the benefits of collaboration on the internet and explained that it’s an important piece of starting an online community. “I got friends from Elliott grilling, and Elliot grilling got fans from me,” Mcadams mentioned. One of Mcadams’ videos blew up and got over 2 million views. The video featured a sandwich Mcadams calls the “snoop dogg:” egg, cheese, bacon and sausage, all between a donut.
English teacher Lin Illingworth is another fan of Elliott and enjoys eating grilled food as well. She mentioned that while she does the cooking, her husband usually likes to grill instead. “A grill gives you a nice sear, and gives you the char strips,” said Illingworth. “Grilling is kind of primal in a way,” Illingworth added to explain why she thinks her husband enjoys grilling.
Cahill is looking forward to growing his passion for cooking. He currently works in the kitchen at Hampshire Hills Athletic Club. Cahill is beginning to cook there as well and is excited about the change in style that a commercial kitchen brings.
Cahill plans to continue posting, and he is considering also starting a lifting account in the future. “He is gonna make it big…” said Theriault.
