Dunkin’ Donuts is always making new drinks every season to keep their customers happy; this season, it’s the holiday drink collection. This collection contains two new drinks, the Cookie Butter Cold Brew and the Holiday Cookie Signature Latte. I will review the Cookie Butter Cold Brew.
This drink has three pumps of Cookie Butter syrup, a generous amount of Cookie Butter Cold Foam and is topped off with crumbled cookies. Although this drink is typically served black, I added in three shots of cream and less ice to really give this drink a fair chance.
As you take the first sip, you are hit with a buttery, sweet cold foam, then a smooth and rich cold brew. Now, I am not typically a cold brew fan, but with the cream and the sweetness of the Cookie Butter pumps, I felt like I was drinking ice cream spiked with the rich taste of coffee. It was energizing and fun to drink, especially with the cold foam; I felt like I was drinking through a cloud. Not to mention, the smell of the drink was delicious and sweet, giving off a winter vibe.
Although this drink is good, and the taste isn’t bad, the cookie crumble is a downside because it sinks to the bottom and becomes soggy. Sadly, this is a common problem. In an article by Holly on The Impulsive Buy, she stated, “By the time I got home, half [the cookie crumble] sat at the top like cereal floating on the cold brew, and the other half had sunk to the bottom. Mixing just made them smaller and created a weird mouth feel to the sips that were like wet sand.”
I think, with the exclusion of the cookie crumble, this drink could be a ten out of ten and a must-have every holiday season.
