On Jan. 15, 2025, for the first time in its history, the Hollis Brookline High School (HBHS) Math Team will be hosting a Math Meet, where they’ll compete against other Division II teams including Souhegan, Milford, Bishop Guertin, Bow and Manchester West.
With this being the first meet Hollis Brookline has ever hosted, members of the team and advisors alike are very excited. Not only is hosting a competition like this a huge honor for them, but performing well at this meet can further their goal of becoming Division II League Champions in February.
This year, the Math Team has been doing very well, continuing its streak from previous years. “The HBHS Math Team has a long history of success in both our regular season league and at the state level,” said Stacey Plummer, who has been a Math Team advisor for 26 years. “We were both league champions and state champions last year! This year, the team is having an incredible season. We have won the first three meets of the regular season.”
The end of the season is rapidly approaching. According to Plummer, the Math Team has until February to achieve their goal of becoming league champions. However, they won’t stop there. “Our final regular season meet is in February then we head to NHTI in mid-March for the State of New Hampshire Meet that’s open to all New Hampshire Math Teams across the entire state,” said Plummer.
Adams also looks forward to what’s on the team’s plate leading up to Jan. 15 and is confident that the team will continue performing well. “Even after this upcoming meet, we’ll continue to put in the work, get the results we need to come out on top and finish even stronger,” he said.
As Jan. 15 approaches, the Math Team will continue to prepare under the guidance of co-advisors Plummer and Susan Mooers to hopefully aid them in becoming Division II Champions.
