The Bull Run restaurant, located in Shirley, MA, has been open since the 1940s and is rated 4.6 stars on the website, Bull Run Restaurant: Restaurant | Massachusetts, I have been to the Bull Run about a thousand times growing up, especially because I lived not even five minutes down the road from it. I recently went with my sister and parents after an event that took place in the town. It felt nostalgic, to say the least, because I hadn’t been in years. However, it was comforting to see that everything had stayed the same.
I have spent birthdays, celebrations, school events and graduations, all in that restaurant. The Bull Run is a family-owned business with a cozy tavern and music venue. They host trivia nights, live music and hold many historical objects that have been in the building for centuries. It is not only a place for food, but it is a place for family and celebrations. I took my eighth-grade formal pictures there, and it was there that we took my sister’s graduation photos.
There are hundreds of reviews online regarding the restaurant’s quality. For example, one five-star review from Michelle Joyce expressed: “I had my cousin’s Baby Shower in the Garden Room function room and everything was PERFECT! The room was set up beautifully with the table linens. The two staff members who worked the event were absolutely wonderful, professional and very friendly to everyone. The brunch buffet that was chosen for this event was DELICIOUS and the cake was also made at the Bull Run by their pastry chef- it was outstanding! Nothing but rave reviews for the Bull Run and the sales manager who helped me with the initial planning was wonderful to work with and very helpful!”
The food from the Bull Run is also absolutely incredible! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and are open from Wednesday through Saturday to four PM and a Sunday brunch from 10 AM to 2 PM. My family has always loved their food and never complained about it once. Even when COVID-19 hit and many restaurants shut down, the Bull Run continued to gain the support they needed by doing takeout.
However, not everyone feels the same way about the restaurant. Some have had bad experiences that left them both disappointed and frustrated. “The food is absolutely horrible, no flavor, or overcooked. Extremely expensive for breakfast food,” said an online review that left one star.
Despite the fact that not everyone will feel the same way about the Bull Run restaurant, if I had to give someone a piece of advice, it would be to definitely stop by the restaurant, and try it before you knock it!
