“I thought this would be a really great spot where people still want to learn,” said first-year physics teacher at Hollis Brookline High School Robyn Greene. Greene is new to the HBHS school district and teaches Physical Science and Physics. She has been working in schools for 13 years and has been teaching for seven years. She chose to come to HBHS for the community and care for learning. “Hollis Brookline has a very good reputation and community that’s still invested in learning and interested in educating their population,” said Greene.
Greene is originally from upstate New York and has moved many times throughout her life in the New England area. She currently lives in Amherst, New Hampshire, and has two kids. Her favorite subjects in high school were always math and science-based classes, and she preferred chemistry. After school, she also participated in clubs, including theater and acting.

Currently, she uses her free time to paint, garden, build puzzles, and listen to vinyl records. Additionally, she enjoys making food, spending time with family and hanging out with her three cats, dog and bunny.
Greene decided to teach later in her career because she thought she would be a good asset to the teaching community. She believes she is good at connecting with students and teaching them new material. She believes it’s important to stay patient and help students.
Originally, Greene thought she would become a math teacher since she has a love for math and wanted to teach it. She ended up becoming a science teacher and thinks it’s better than being a math teacher because you can add in more real-world and hands-on examples. “I think science is a little more fun than math because I get to [introduce] the labs and other real-world applications, where in math sometimes it’s a little more removed,” said Greene.
Her biggest accomplishment so far is being able to work with the Hollis Brookline community and be a part of the science department. It is currently her first year teaching a physics course, and she taught a chemistry course last year, also for the first time.
Greene has been enjoying her job here at Hollis Brookline High School and wants to continue on her teaching journey. “The reward of knowing you’re doing something that’s a really good job to do, has a positive impact,” said Greene.
She has future plans to potentially go back to college and take more classes. “My favorite part of teaching is the students,” said Greene. “I always believed students should enrich their lives and become tougher, stronger, smarter versions of themselves.” She cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
