Baseball team buckling down

Off to a quick start, the baseball team has begun their 2014 campaign with four wins and two losses. Led by senior ace and future Merrimack College baseball player Cam Lafleur, Shea Whalen, and Austin Piggott, the team have hopes of making a playoff run. After a decent season this past year, the squad looks to improve this time around. John Beckett, ‘14, a newcomer to baseball, said that, “This year’s baseball squad is on track to be one of the best in New Hampshire. With a talented pitching staff and knowledgeable coaching staff, the boys have a legitimate shot to make a run to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. As a new addition to the team, it’s been a pleasure to play alongside such talented and genuine young men”. Shea Whalen, ‘14, a returning varsity member, said that “the teams looking good this year, we’ve only given up two runs in our first three games, and we’re outscoring teams twenty-one to two”. The bats are starting to come alive for, with their most recent win coming at Pembroke where they mercied their competitors 13-1. All in all, there is still a lot of season yet to be played, but this year’s team looks very promising nonetheless.
