Film watchers and enthusiasts get ready, because 2016 is going to be a big year for movies.

We say it every year: “This year is going to be a big year for movies.” However, this year many of the younger film-goers will recognize some old movies that are making a return.

Yes, after many years of Ellen DeGeneres joking about a Finding Dory movie, a sequel to Finding Nemo, Disney has finally given in. The film will star the original duo: Ellen DeGeneres as Dory and Albert Brooks as Marlin. Nemo will be played by a new younger star, Hayden Rolence. Finding Dory will swim into theaters this summer.

Another movie that a young generation will recognize is Ghostbusters. This is the third in the trilogy, however, this one has a twist to it. The movie will star four females as the ghostbusters: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. With a cast like that this movie is expected to have a very comedic side to it. It will launch in the summer of 2016.

Superhero fans get ready, because the wait is over. Batman v Superman will finally be released on March 25, 2016. Lex Luthor has threatened Metropolis and Batman is going to have to team up with Superman if they don’t want to see Metropolis in ruins.

“I’m most looking forward to Batman v Superman. They are my two favorite superheros,” said Steven Giaconia 17’.

Marvel has quite a few movies coming out this year as well, but there is a specific movie that everyone has been hyping up: Deadpool. Deadpool will be the first ever “R” rated movie made by Marvel. The movie is about a special force-operative that is made into a test subject and is turned into the ultimate superhero. Ryan Reynolds stars as Deadpool. Marvel has decided to take an alternative route with this movie. Normally, Marvel movies have lots of action and are suspenseful. Deadpool will have tons of action, but with a heavy comedic side to it.

“I really want to see Deadpool. Action – comedy movies are my favorite,” said Cody Snow ‘16. Deadpool launches February 12.

Star Wars fans have no fear, you won’t have to wait another two years to see the next Star Wars movie. As of right now Star Wars Rogue One is set to release December 16, 2016. The movie will take place in between Episodes 3 and 4 as a group of rebels set out and try and steal the building plans for the Death Star.

“I really want to see Star Wars Rogue One. It’s Star Wars, simply,” Said Erek Bodholt ‘16. The movie will star actors such as Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Diego Luna.

That’s not even half of the great movies that will be released this year. Films like Star Trek Beyond, Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, Kung Fu Panda 3, London Has Fallen, Neighbors 2, The 5th Wave, and Blizzards’ very own Warcraft movie have so much excitement around them. This is going to be a big year for cinema.
