Girls Soccer : Hollis Brookline prevailed over a very determined Conval team by the score of 3-1, and will move on to Sunday’s quarterfinals. HB got on the board at 17 minutes when Torrey Cook (1 goal, 2 assists) launched a cross into the box where Rachel Flanagan ( 1 goal ) touched the dropping ball to chip it over the Conval keeper. The game remained tight until just before the half, when HB scored two with less than two minutes on the clock. Torrey Cook took a pass from Magnolia Moskun (1 assist) and ripped it to far post. Moments later Cook took a ball wide, attacked along the end line, and put a crisp pass to Haley Modelski (1 goal) who used one touch to snap it into the net for a stunning goal. Conval would not go down easy, and generated some forward opportunities in the second half, with Brook Ellis finally knocking one in after a corner at 56 minutes. HB went on the attack again, and were denied twice by spectacular dives by Conval’s Keeper. Olivia Clegghorn had 8 saves for HB, a few showing sure hands in slippery traffic. Strong effort by all the Cavs, particularly Kenzie Day and Ryan Philbrook in the back, and the trio of Taylor Cook, Michele Philpot and Moskun through the middle.
