 ~Attention Artists – It’s Reflections Art competition time again!  Take a photo,  choreograph a dance, produce a film, write a poem or story, compose a song, or create a piece of visual art showing us your interpretation of the theme:  “Within Reach”.    Pick up a PTSA Reflections entry form today from the school office and return your entry by Wednesday, January 3rd 2018
Discover and explore your world through photography, dance, film, literature, music, or visual arts.  No experience is required to participate in the PTSA Reflections Art Competition!  Choose the arts category you are interested in, pick up an entry form in the Main Office, create an original piece of artwork based on the theme: “Within Reach”,  turn it in by Wednesday, January 3rd 2018 and be recognized as an artist in our community.

~ Hollis Brookline Cooperative School District Informational Session-Public Forum will be held on Tuesday December 5th in the High School Auditorium beginning at 6:00 PM. There will be a Facility Tour that will begin at 5:30 PM. The forum is to discuss the High School STEM renovation project and multi-purpose rectangular field.      
 

Tickets for “The Game’s Afoot” are now on Sale!

November 30th and Opening Night are almost upon us!
Tickets are:
$10 General Admission
$8 for Seniors (65+)
$5 For students and teachers

~HOBY Leadership seminar available for interested sophomores will be held June 1-3, 2018 at Saint Anselm College.  $225 per student.  Deadline December 8, 2017. Please see Kerry Dod in Guidance if you are interested.

Veteran’s Day Assembly will be held today during Cav Block. 
Junior College Information Night on Wednesday November 8 at 6:30 PM in the
auditorium.
There will be a meeting for those interested in playing Baseball on Wednesday, Nov. 8th , at 4:15 pm in room 362.
Gymnastics meeting, Wednesday November 8th at 7:30 pm at Gymnastics Village in Amherst for all those interested in participating.
 
November 9 & November 10- NO SCHOOL

Students are collecting donations for the Humane Society of Greater Nashua, for the next two weeks. We have been in contact with the animal shelter and they have expressed a need for the following items:

  • Dog collars (all sizes)
  • Dog leashes (all sizes)
  • Nylabone chew toys, treat dispensing toys, stuffed toys, kong toys (all sizes)
  • Gift cards (Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, Target, grocery stores, etc)
  • Gently used towels and blankets (for bedding)
  • Paper towels (for cleaning)
Additionally, the following link will take you to their “wish list”.
You can drop off any items you wish to donate in the blue totes located at both the front and back lobby of the high school.

~Class of 2019 listen up!! Your council members will be collecting your dues this week, next week, and the week after. You can turn in your dues during 2nd or 3rd lunch. You have up until thanksgiving break, so that’s 10 days. Please try to get them in! They are very important! Thank you!

Screenagers – Do you want to know how social media impacts your child and family? Then you do not want to miss this PTSA sponsored community viewing of this important documentary on November 7th.
There will be an information meeting for students interested to go to France during April vacation 2019. This trip is for students studying French at HBHS and a parent or guardian needs to be at the meeting as well. The meeting will be on Wednesday November 8th at 6:30 PM in the HBHS library. See Madame Faucher in room 171 if you have questions 
 
Junior College Night– Wednesday November 8th at 6:30pm in the auditorium, the Guidance Department will hold Junior College Information Night for Parents and Students. This year we will start the evening with a  panel of College Admissions Representatives followed by the HBHS counselors presentation of the college process.

Tuesday November 7th and Wednesday November 8th we will run normal schedules.
Do you want to help people affected by the devastating fires in California and show your Bruins spirit at the same time? The Red Cross Club is holding a raffle for a Bruins basket starting today and going through next Friday, so don’t wait to donate for a chance to win. The Bruins basket includes various team accessories and 2 Bruins box seat tickets to the November 4th game against the Capitals! Each chance to win is only $1.00. Tickets sales and donations accepted during every lunch next week or from Mrs. Foster, and all proceeds go directly to the American Red Cross relief efforts in California.

This Friday October 27 the , we will hold our annual Halloween Assembly and all of the fun and costumes that
have come to be a tradition here at HBHS.
Administrators and Staff members will be the doors in the morning to monitor the appropriateness of costumes.
Costumes must adhere to the following rules:
Dress Code:
 No full face paint or masks (we need to be able to recognize students for safety)
 No weapons of any kind (including anything that is a fake weapon)
 No costumes that are inappropriate in their message. For example, no racist, sexist, sexy, or culturally
offensive ensembles.

Only 30% of SENIORS have submitted their quotes and photos. The deadline has been extended to this Friday, 10/27 – if you miss this deadline as well we will use your student ID photo and a random quote in the yearbook.

Hola! The HB Spanish Club will hold its second Hora de Hablar of the year this Wednesday, October 25th in room 176 from 2:35 to 3:30. This event is free for all members and to become a member, simply pay your $5 dues. We hope to see you this Wednesday at 2:35 in room 176!
Mr. Barbosa and Mr. Parker invite you to join them for the 24 Hour play festival on Saturday, October 28 at 8pm in the auditorium. What is the 24 hour play festival? It’s when 25 students write, rehearse, and produce original 10 minute plays in just 24 hours! It’s a lot of fun that promises to be very entertaining. Admission is free! Hope to see you there!
Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour! Parler pour Parler is right around the corner! Come enjoy some games, food, and of course French! It will be held in Room 171 on Wednesday, October 25. Become a member by paying your $5 dues and you can participate on all French Club’s events. It’s worth your time! See Madame Faucher in room 171 if you have questions. Merci!!              

Public Forum: there will be a Public Forum to discuss the proposed high school renovation project on Monday, October 23rd at 6PM in the HBHS Auditorium.  A tour of the proposed space will be available at 5:30 PM starting in the Mini-Gym.  The proposal includes but is not limited to: reconfiguring space to bring First Robotics back to the high school, an additional field for athletics, increased storage, and a significant expansion of our technology infrastructure.  We encourage everyone to attend and provide input on the proposal.

The HBHS Photo Club will be meeting on Wed after school this week.

Attention students: Buses leave the high school at 2:34 PM sharp.  For your safety, please know that buses will no longer stop for students once they begin rolling after that time.

A reminder that juniors will take PSATs  in the gym Wednesday, October 11, starting at 7:40.  Please report to the gym prior to this time with pencils, approved calculators, and a snack if you are bringing one (a small snack will be provided).  Remember to bring a sweater or sweatshirt–the gym can get cold!
