5. Notable Athletes Retire
Besides Peyton Manning, other popular athletes also decided to call it a quits in their career. NBA stars Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett all retired this summer. Many basketball experts consider them to be some of the greatest basketball players who ever played. NFL Detroit Lions wide receiver, Calvin Johnson, who holds the single-season record for most receiving yards, surprised many fans by hanging up the cleats at age 30. Quarterback Peyton Manning, who holds the record for most passing touchdowns in a season, retired after winning his second Super Bowl. In baseball, Red Sox designated hitter, David Ortiz, possibly the most beloved man in Boston, announced he would retire after the 2016 season. The Red Sox held a huge ceremony in his last home game, renaming a bridge close to Fenway Park after him.
Number four will be released tomorrow.
