The HB FIRST Robotics Team has secured spot in the Semifinals at Bedford High School this upcoming weekend, March 25-26.

The HBHS FIRST Robotics team competed at Windham High School March 3-5.  The team landed themselves in the semi-finals and are scheduled to compete again March 25-26 at Bedford High School. The team has spent countless hours working on their robot which can successfully launch balls into a basket, carry and deliver gears to their intended place, and climb a rope, pushing HB further into the competition.

Members of the robotics team strive toward becoming skilled in all areas of their technological field. In order for this to happen, members are often challenged with skills outside their comfort zone. Senior Michael Vollmer faced more of a leadership role this year and certainly did not disappoint. He has used his leadership privileges to help other kids delegate and improve. “I like getting kids involved with tasks they’ve never done before. Stronger members means a stronger team.” said Vollmer.

Errica Cheng ‘18 reacts to their last competition, “It went well, we were picked by the 5th alliance and we made it to the semi finals”. Chang is hoping in their next competition they will be able to improve.

Club leader Mrs. Hay encourages anyone who is even slightly interested in Robotics to join the team. “Even if you don’t think you have what it takes, you do. We have members who cover a wide range of skills, from business to design to building.”

Come support the robotics team in Bedford March 25-26 and watch as hours of hard work pay off on the competition floor.
