Some students know her as “Smags” and Ms. Smagula, now “Mrs. Danis”, is fine with students calling her by her maiden name or by her nickname. In the world outside of HB, however, Mrs. Lisa Danis is the latest staffer to tie the knot.

The ceremony, attended by close friends and family, was held in Las Vegas on Oct. 12, 2013. Wearing a white cocktail length dress designed by her husband’s niece, Alexandria Chiesa–a designer in Boston, Lisa Smagula exchanged vows and rings with Derek Danis.

Danis’ new family includes two step-children: Sawyer, 8, Julianne, 6 and beloved dog Rosie. “Everything is going great!” said Danis, “It feels the same as before, just better.”
