Following the release of their 2023 album, Starcatcher, the up and coming rock band Greta Van Fleet is currently on their first world tour. Formed in 2012 the band consists of four members: lead vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist and background vocals from Jake Kiszka, bass from Sam Kiszka, and Danial Wagner on drums. “ The band gives a modern spin on classical rock music which we haven’t seen since our parents were teenagers,” said Hannah Welts, a junior at Hollis Brookline High School.

Greta Van Fleet first gained popularity after the release of their hit song Highway Tune, which was released in March of 2017. Many listeners compared the song to music by Led Zeppelin, an extremely popular rock band throughout the 1970s. Highway Tune spent five weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The song also earned the band one of their first GRAMMY nominations, including Best Rock Performance, at the 61st GRAMMY Awards.

Not only is Greta Van Fleet a rock band with guitars and drums, but They have also become a rock band preaching love and acceptance. Their song Light My Love has become their anthem for this. “Once the lights dimmed for Light My Love I started to tear up…a beautiful experience”, said Welts ‘25. Others have said the same about the song, following the coming out of lead singer Josh Kiszka. Many members of the LBGQT+ community and many others have found comfort in the song and in the band itself.

In July of 2023 the band’s world tour started in Nashville, Tennessee. Starcatcher will have support from many special guests opening for it, such as; Kaleo, Surf Curse, Mt. Joy, and Black Honey. The tour is planned to end on September 27, 2024 in Mexico City, CDMX at the Foro Sol Stadium. But with the band still gaining popularity by the day, they have recently added more shows to the tour, and may continue to add more.

Selling out their entire 2022 tours, the band is hoping to do the same again with this one And it seems the band is currently on track to reach their goal.
