The Hollis Brookline Boys Soccer team has deep roots. Many have been playing in organized soccer programs since the early age of three. Hollis Brookline has established “feeder” programs, allowing kids to excel throughout the years, fine tuning their soccer skills before some even enter the Primary School.
As players move into middle school, they focus on certain positions, which make them more effective on the field, and it shows in their high school years, as each person plays as one, cohesive unit. I had the opportunity to learn more about the HB Boys Soccer team through in depth interviews with two starting seniors, as well as the HB Athletic Director.
“I play Center-Mid and Wing. I would say I mostly play those positions, because I have good vision, am fast and physical. The Center Mid position is ranked the 8th most critical position to play on the soccer field”, said Noah. (www.tocafootball.com).
Oyster River is the hardest school to play at, when we are the visiting team, said Leo. Oyster River HS has won 13 state titles since starting its program in 1957, with three state titles in a row, from 2001 to 2003 and recently one in 2020. This school has participated in the state tournament every year since its inception. www.seacoastonline.com I started off interviewing the school amendstarter.
“There is a lot of training involved in any sport. Many of our players play club, lift weights, and condition during the off-season,””Said. Brian, Bumpus” the school sports administration).
Per the nationalacademyofathletes.com, cross training for soccer players benefits them, as they are not doing the same movements like soccer and work other muscle groups.
“ I do not do much for soccer offseason, as I play other sports. But I do run and workout,”said Noah” Off season cross training is highly beneficial for soccer players performance”, said Noah.
Because of the hard long training the boy soccer team had they feel confident that they will make the playoffs. “Yes, I do feel we will make the playoffs,”said, Leo Zweiner”. Since 2017, the Hollis Brookline Boys Soccer Team has been ranked 8th or better. The top 8 teams in the league do usually advance to the playoffs. (www.maxpreps.com)
Of the 8 games remaining, HB plays 5 teams with better records. (www.maxpreps.com). The HB Boys Soccer Team beat Milford 2-1 on 10/03/2025. Milford was ranked ahead of Hollis Brookline.
The Hollis Brookline High School Boys Soccer continues to thrive in their Division II league.
They have qualified for the post season playoffs 9 times since 2013 and if they make the playoffs in 2025, it will be the fifth straight year of this achievement.
Although never winning a state title, the HB Boys Soccer Team has been to the state title game three times since 2002. They are definitely close to the goal of a state championship and with continued excellence on the field, it is not a matter of if it happens, but rather when.
