While some HBHS students were visiting France, London and Montreal, others from HB the Change were doing what they could to help at the Nashua Soup Kitchen. Chris Aulbach ‘17, Caroline Kroeger ‘17, Jillian O’Hara ‘19, Maggie O’Hara ‘17, Javier Sandoval ‘17, and Jackie Haytayan ‘17 took the time out of their spring break to volunteer and help others.

During their visit, they were broken up into separate groups to tackle different tasks. Jackie Haytayan, co-president of HB the Change, “stocked shelves and sorted fruits and vegetables” while others were “preparing food and making fruit salads”. Ms. Melim said, “It was good to be around students who were so selfless to give up a Saturday of their vacation to help others.”

This was the first time club members visited the Soup Kitchen and starting next year they are going to try to go once a month. When asked to describe the club in a sentence, Haytayan said it is “a pay it forward club that wants to make nice a normality”.
