With college coming up, fairs, tours, and most importantly applications, seniors have to find a way to navigate through all of this commotion. The months of October and November are jam packed with all of the above because deadlines for early decision as well as early action are due. I asked a few fellow seniors at HB how the process of applying for college is going for them and this is what they had to say.
A fellow senior Lila Borgioli is applying early for almost all her applications and found it to be easy to navigate since she had help from a college advisor. With Borgioli being busy with sports and school she suggests for juniors to “start everything way earlier” so that the application process is less stressful. She now can relax and have a worry free winter.
Dillon Kinney had a different experience with applying since he already has committed to college for lacrosse. Kinney will be attending Curry College next fall and he applied with direct admission for that. He found applying to be easy and with him doing direct admission, it made it even easier since he did not have to fully do the whole application. The best advice he said he would give to upcoming seniors is to “apply to as many colleges as you can and spread out options.”
Lastly, I asked senior Megan Eckman because she has many thoughts on the college process. Eckman thinks the college process is easy to navigate but overall stressful because she “sometimes feels like she is doing something wrong”. Her least favorite thing about the whole process is the supplemental questions not only because they are lengthy but with all her colleges she is applying to it very timely. Eckman would tell the juniors to finalize their college lists earlier and to start the common app as soon as you can.
