Students participated in the Oct. 28 Holiday for Heroes party, while indulging in cookies and apple cider. They signed 323 cards over the course of the event, but the Red Cross Club hopes to collect more. For those interested in future events relating to Holiday for Heroes, Lorenzo Occhialini ‘20 said, “If you just come in for 15 minutes and write out a few cards, that is a huge help to us.”

Red Cross Club members teach CSDA students how to stay safe in the event of emergencies. One of the Red Cross Club’s purposes is to teach students how to stay safe during different scenarios. “...the Red Cross club is helpful because the club helps people after disasters and in the school club we do a lot of volunteering and blood drives for the community,” said Tiner.

Blood is essential to everyday life. “The work of the volunteers there was very nice and efficient” said blood donor Cam Dryer ‘18. Hopefully the blood drive remains successful in the years to come.

A group of students helps out at the school’s November blood drive in 2013. The Red Cross Club is known for a multitude of events throughout the year beyond blood drives, from safety training to card-writing for American troops overseas. Members of the community would like to see even more events and involvement in the future. “Through a more widespread participation from the school, [Red Cross] would make a bigger impact, but, right now, it is an isolated entity that acts on its own,” says Jack Aldana-Proulx ‘18. He hopes to see more events in the future.
