Abigail Brown‘21 is a senior at Hollis Brookline High School and the OpEd editor for CavChron. Abigail has played soccer previously for HB and is apart of HB the Change. She also enjoys out of school activities such as 4-H. Some articles she is excited to write about are news and sports.

Remote learning has been different for everyone this year and we have all experienced some type of remote learning. Hollis Brookline students still have the choice to choose to be in person or remote. “I dont enjoy long periods of remote learning but sometimes it is a good break,” said Samantha Messina ‘21.

This year Hollis Brookline held spirit week May 15-19. This year, the seniors won the spirit week competition. “Spirit week is fun for everyone,” said Oetjetns ‘21.

Some schools calculate class rank and some students provide it to colleges. Class rank is the top 10% of students in their graduating class that get recognized. “I think doing away with class rank will create a more equal environment,” said Barnes, the principal of Hollis Brookline High School.

The pandemic has affected lots of peoples lives. Over the last few months everything has changed, and people have had to make changes in their lives for example wearing masks. As long as we are there for each other and are patient, we can get through this.

The guidelines at Hollis-Brookline High School are still being revised as problems are arising. At the beginning of the year lunch seating was not tracked specific enough so now the school has QR codes for contact tracing. As long as the school keeps making changes to ensure the highest level of safety the school should be able to stay open. “This is one area we are always looking to improve because lunch is the biggest transition during the day,” said Barnes.
