Is Rio possibly the movie of our generation? Rio came out in 2011, and was directed by Carlos Saldanha. Rio featured many notable actors like Jaimie Fox, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez, and many more. Rio was nominated for 31 awards, winning three.
I was able to get Pemi Mitchell’s take on the movie as she is a big fan. When asked her what her favorite parts of the movie Rio was, she said, “The colors and music in the movie bring an overall good vibe to it.” She then told me about how she thinks the movie does a good job with character development, saying some change and grow throughout the movie while others remain the same in an upbeat manner.
We then took a deep dive discussing the soundtrack. Rio has a very well known soundtrack. Pemi stated in her interview “All songs on the soundtrack are good, there are no misses. All songs fit the movie well, and bring a fun vibe.”
For an opinion that differed from Pemi’s, I interviewed Marshall Tamposi. Marshall was not a big fan of Rio. When explaining the reasons why he didn’t like the movie, he referred to it having, “A predictable plot, and weak sense of humor”. Even through his dislike for the movie, I asked what his favorite part of the movie was. He responded saying that the soundtrack was the best aspect of the movie.
I consider Rio to be one of the greatest childhood movies from our generation. Its plot has twists and turns with smaller adventures along the way to keep the viewer engaged. It is easy to fall in love with the characters as there are so many of them with so many different personalities to appeal to all different people. The colors and music in Rio are out of this world. The visual aspect is filled with bright colors and shimmering sparkles as the movie takes place in Rio Dejanero. The soundtrack for Rio is unmatched to any other animated movie. Its songs are still streamed today as they fit for more than just watching the movie.
When comparing the opinions of many different people, it is easy to see that Rio is a fantastic movie. The mutual understanding between viewers who enjoyed the movies and viewers who did not, is that the soundtrack is incredible, proving that Rio has so much more to offer than cinema, and is definitely worth the watch.
